Title: Facility Cleaner


Reports to: Facility Director
Position Status: Part Time
Salary: Hourly – $12.95/hr
Start Date: April 1, 2021 or as soon as possible
Location: Fundy YMCA in Cornwallis, a branch of the YMCA of Southwest Nova Scotia
The Fundy YMCA is looking for a dynamic self-starter to join our team as a Facility Cleaner, reporting to the Facility Director. The YMCA of Southwest Nova Scotia provides vital services such as health, fitness and recreation, childcare, newcomer and youth programs. The YMCA is an inclusive organization connecting people to lifelong opportunities and enhances their quality of life.
We are specifically looking for the right candidate to cover Friday evenings, Saturdays and one weeknight evening per week. The hours will typically be between 15 – 25 per week with the possibility for more when coverage is needed for vacation or other time off. Most of our cleaning happens during operational hours, plus approximately one hour after closing where you will be required to work on your own.

Position Summary
The role of the facility cleaner is to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for our members, visitors, participants and staff. We work together to provide our members and families a safe and enjoyable experience in a clean facility, every day.
This work requires some lifting (up to 15kg), bending, reaching, squatting, twisting, turning and repetitive movements. Responsibilities will include such things as: wiping, sweeping, mopping, window and glass cleaning, bathroom cleaning, operation of a floor machine and sanitization equipment, doing laundry, vacuuming, etc.

Qualifications
• Ability to work well on your own and within a team
• Comfort in working with and speaking to the public (our members and visitors)
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Having fun while maintaining professionalism – we work together to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all
• Schedule flexibility to accommodate variations outside of regular business hours, as needed
• Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and provide proof of valid First Aid and CPR training or be willing to attend training. Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training.
