My name is Payton Tupper, and I am so excited to introduce you to this new project put on by the Fundy YMCA! “What’s Up at the Y” is a blog page that will inform you about all of the awesome programs and activities offered at the Y, a look into our aquatics program and swim safety, as well as getting to know our awesome staff who you see everyday! Our doors are always open, and we would love for you to come check out our facilities and try out our programs. What we offer is tailored to our members, and we sincerely appreciate your feedback.
I have been with the Fundy YMCA for two years now, as a shadow guard, swim instructor, and now certified lifeguard. I am a grade 12 student at DIgby Regional High School, and plan on studying English Literature in the fall. The YMCA has provided me with so many opportunities to further my certifications, and I have learned numerous skills that I will take with me in the future.
Above all, I enjoy teaching swimming lessons the most. As a young child, I was fearful of the water, and swimming was never something that I liked. How times have changed! I understand the fear associated with learning to swim, and hope to provide some comfort within my lessons. I believe learning to swim and being water smart is so incredibly important, especially living in Nova Scotia, where we are surrounded by scenic beaches and lakes.
If you are interested in any of our programs, or just want to give the Y a try, give us a call. Our COVID-19 restrictions are in place for your safety, and your health is our number one priority. We would love to meet you and provide you with a space to grow, learn, and have fun.
Until next week,
